Beverly Roche, Winner of the 2025 Christel DeHaan Fellowship for Accessible Arts
I will attend the PUSH Physical Theatre intensive in Rochester, New York, July 6 -13. PUSH Physical Theatre, established in 2000, has a reputation for excellence in performance and training as well as for their advocating for an inclusive and diverse performance community. PUSH collaborates with community partners to affect positive change. During this intensive I will study physical theatre, non-traditional partnering, dance, corporeal and illusionary mime, physical acting, comedy as well as the creative process developed by PUSH to devise plays. I will spend 8 hours a day developing what PUSH describes as a "solid, practical skill set" and exploring new methods of communication and performance. The curriculum includes traditional mime practices and advanced techniques in physical storytelling and ensemble-building developed by PUSH.
